Speaking from his refuge in the Syrian capital Damascus, Khaled Meshaal gave his reaction to Mr Obama’s election. “… he should know he has duties to the United States and in the whole world and in hotspots especially in the Middle East… Yes we are ready for dialogue with President Obama and with the new American administration with an open mind, on the basis that the American administration respects our rights and our options,” said Mr Meshaal.
The big Hamas news from the last 48 hours is that these outwardly intransigent terrorists are actually big softies who will accept Israel along the 1967 lines. No, of course it’s not true. But wouldn’t it be cool if it was?
They’ve got thousands of new soldiers that they’re training in new military facilities and arming with a functionally unlimited supply of smuggled weapons. They’re gearing up for a wave of new attacks on Israeli forces, digging new tunnels into Israel faster than the IDF can blow them up.
They’ve already formally taken over some of the Palestinian Authority’s institutions and are about to take charge of the rest. They’ve been invited to meet the EU, their surrogates met with multiple Obama officials during the campaign, and now they think they’ve got a reasonable shot at meeting the President of the United States. You think they’re going to give up on their genocidal ambitions now? Don’t be stupid.
