Just out of curiosity, anyone know why the UK keeps putting their nuclear and biological counterterror personnel in the field? Because if you do, you should let the BBC know:
Scientists from Porton Down have been deployed in the UK a “number of times this year”, the government’s head of counter-terrorism has told MPs. The lab mainly specialises in nuclear and biological warfare but the reason for the deployments is not known. Brigadier Chip Chapman told a committee of MPs he could not go into details for national security reasons… Lord West said ministers did not know the location and capability of all deployable troops in the UK at any one time but he was confident they could find out “straight away” in the event of an emergency.
Well as long as he’s confident. I wonder if they’ve managed to sneak into any of those no-go zones where non-Muslims can’t even enter any more. And while they’re at it, they might want to check in mosques and – charmingly – ambulances:
Terrorists linked to Al-Qaeda may be planning to buy former NHS ambulances and police cars to mount suicide bomb attacks in Britain, MI5 has warned. They may import a tactic already used in Iraq and Israel, according to a report by MI5’s Joint Terrorism Analysis Centre to chief constables..the Association of Chief Police Officers also warned of the risk of such an attack.
Also a good place to check for terrorists: pretty much anywhere in the UK.
