UPDATE 02: So we spent the morning thinking “of course a major press outlet would fete Ahmadinejad”. Then we found out it was a joke, and we spent the afternoon thinking “maybe we shouldn’t be so quick to assume that our worst stereotypes of other people are true” (it is erev Yom Kippur after all). Turns out: no, they’re pretty much all true:

It may have been a joke that the New York Times invited Ahmadinejad to lunch—but this is no joke: Iranian President to Speak at NPC’s First-Ever Videoconference Luncheon… Media and academic elites are falling over themselves to fete this genocidal madman.

Ann Coulter’s positions often lack something in the way of circumspection, but she has a point when she complains that liberals don’t hate this country’s enemies like they should.

UPDATE 01: Remember a couple hours ago when we said “believe it”? Don’t believe it.

ORIGINAL:
Believe it:

Newt Gingrich revealed on FoxNews this morning that the New York Times editorial board will host Ahmadinejad for lunch at the Four Seasons hotel on Monday. “That is like hosting Adolf Hitler to lunch in 1940,” said Dave Bossie of Citizens United.

Maybe he can teach them some Farsi. It would at least streamline the process of translating New York Times editorials from the originals.
