We’re Going To Miss Westminster Abbey – No Really, We’re Going To Miss It

We’re being quite literal on this point:

The premiere of a work by the leading composer Sir John Taverner in Westminster Cathedral next week has provoked discord because it glorifies the Muslim deity Allah. Traditionalist Roman Catholics are planning to converge on the cathedral on Tuesday evening to protest over the work, which includes the singing of the 99 names of Allah. A number have written to Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O’Connor, the head of the Roman Catholic Church in England and Wales, expressing concern that the Church will be seen to be endorsing the Islamic idea of God… his new work… was commissioned by his friend the Prince of Wales.

Although Westminster Cathedral is different than Westminster Abbey, you can see how the joke still kind of works.

Presumably this will do very little to quiet down those rumors that Prince Charles is a secret convert to Islam. That would be Prince Charles, heir to the throne and first in line to be head of the Church of England. Which, at least as of this afternoon, still ostensibly requires that one believe in the divinity of Christ. But hey, you can have a Hindu Anglican priest, so why not a Muslim head of the Anglican Church? (h/t: Hot Air)
