Palestinian Non-Civil War Watch – Now They’re Throwing Each Other Off Roofs

We were going to hed this post with “The Defenestration Of Gaza”, but we can’t tell if anyone was actually thrown out of windows. The first guy was definitely thrown off the room, but maybe the second guy? Tough to say:

Rival Palestinian forces clashed in Gaza on Sunday, killing two militants by throwing them out of high-rise buildings. Hamas militants kidnapped an officer in a Fatah-linked security force, took him to the roof of a 15-story apartment building and threw him off… That set off skirmishes through the city, including gun battles and shelling. Fatah militants surrounded the house of a Hamas mosque preacher and fired rocket-propelled grenades at the four-story building… Just before midnight, a Hamas activist was thrown off the 12th floor of a building and killed, security officials said. Four other Hamas men in the building were shot and wounded, bringing the day’s toll to three dead and 36 wounded, medical officials said. Also, a Hamas militant wounded on Friday died Sunday.

The CNN AP report doesn’t mention this, but an extended version of the same story from Ha’aretz says that Fatah targeted the home of Prime Minister Haniyeh. You know what would really help these people: an independent state, international recognition, and a boatload of military and economic aid. We know that it’s hard to imagine what a dramatic jump in aid would look like – the Palestinians are already at insanely high per capita levels, and still increasing slowly – but hopefully the international community will try anyway. Otherwise the Palestinians might do something crazy like terrorism. Or throwing each other off of buildings.
