NPR In Denial About Sexism On the Left, Gets MR Exactly Wrong On Jeri Thompson

Last April we predicted that Republican uber-consultant Jeri Thompson would face a wave of sexism from anti-sexists on the left, in the same way that Republican blacks face racism from leftist anti-racists and Republican gays face heterosexism from leftist anti-heterosexists. The post was relatively short, almost the entire thing being about how this is a pervasive leftist tactic aimed at conservative women across the board:

And to understand why there’s going to be cognitive dissonance among the far and academic left. If you think that the disgusting comments about Malkin’s body and Coulter’s sexuality are bad – wait until you have to listen to ostensibly progressive grassroots activists reducing this successful career woman to her chest size.

Omri Ceren of Mere Rhetoric predicted in April that these kinds of comments would be made about Jeri Thompson because of the couple’s age difference.

Yeah, that’s exactly what we said. If Fred Thompson was 20 years younger then the left wouldn’t be denigrating his wife’s sexuality. That’s obviously the implication of our post.
