Iran Seizes Finns, Promises To Let Them Go In A Few Days

They really just can do whatever the hell they want these days:

Iran is to release three Finnish men seized in the Persian Gulf Saturday within 48 hours, the Finnish Foreign Ministry said Wednesday. Pasi Tuominen, a legation counselor at the ministry, told the Finnish News Agency that talks with Iranian officials indicated that the Finnish citizens would be freed in two days. The three captives, all employees of Nokia Siemens Networks based in Dubai, were on a fishing trip and strayed into Iranian waters on June 2, when they were arrested near the island of Abu Musa.

We think it would have been classier if they demanded that Finland release some Iranian captives in exchange. Or, failing that, just be really anti-Semitic for a day or two to get on Iran’s good side. Otherwise every country on the planet will start thinking that Iran releases hostages without getting anything in return. The consequences for the credibility of jihadist blackmail could be dire.
