And people say we don’t rate anything better than third-tier anti-Semites. This time we managed to get second-tier anti-Semites to attack us. We’re calling that a win.
The UC Irvine Muslim Student Association seems to have a certain deep-seated affection for thuggishness. Their speakers spit out phrases like “Zionist Jew” while celebrating Hezbollah’s murder of “Israeli Jews” (as if a viciously anti-Semitic speaker who adds an adjective when saying “Jew” isn’t anti-Semitic any more). Their events focus on the coming day when Muslims will demographically overwhelm – and then subjugate – the United States. And their self-styled foot soldier students display an unseemly enthusiasm when it comes to screaming down opponents and making shows of numerical prowess. Christopher Hitchens has observed that this half-giddy, half-thuggish obsession with throwing around Muslim demographic weight runs extremely deep in Islamist ideology.
This pathetic fixation on fantasies of conquest is so ingrained that they can’t avoid it even when they try to make up logos. A couple days ago we blogged about how their (mysteriously well-funded) Muslim student magazine Alkalima has a cute little flash animation online. By “cute” we mean “they combined bombastic music with make-believe fantasies of global conquest”:
Our video got picked up by UC Irvine pro-Israel student and blogger Reut R. Cohen, whose eagle eyes miss very little when it comes to UC Irvine Muslims. Since those Muslims in turn also monitor Reut’s blog, it was only a couple of hours before the Muslim Student Union’s PR flack posted a response:

First of all, we’re a little upset that Reut got “Zionist #1″, and we had to settle for “Zionist #2″ (c’est la vie, as the kids say). Second of all, read this very carefully: no one is saying that Alkalima is trying to take over the world. The point is – exactly as this MSU PR mouthpiece admits – that fantasies of taking over the world are how these Muslim students get fired up to do other things. It’s what appeals to them.
Some people get inspired by listening to hip hop. Some people get inspired by watching feats of athleticism. UCI Muslim students apparently get inspired by watching videos that combine bombastic music with global conquest. And that’s why this is so revelatory. It’s not about how this video actually reveals some plot to conquer the globe. It’s that fantasizing about conquering the world is how the staff at Alkalima – again, their words not ours – get “encouraged”. They really like the tone and sensibility of thuggish fantasies of revenge.
Which, incidentally, is what we said:

PS – You’ll also notice that they didn’t even try to defend their pathetic mewing about how woefully oppressed they are. Because, like the sensibility of thuggish violence that animates so much of their activism and ideology, it’s so deeply ingrained that they don’t even notice it. It plays the water to their fish.
