This video is too pessimistic about some things – private space exploration being the most obvious example, but also about how fast computing power will increase. In other ways, however, it’s too optimistic – note the lack of any sustained human backlash to the growth of robotics. As if unions didn’t exist… or terrorists:
If half of this is true, we’re in for some genuinely exciting times. Of course the problem with technological utopianism is, well, it’s utopian. Not that a little utopianism is unwelcome these days – the intellectual trend today seems to be more towards dystopia, and not without good reason.
