Labor Voters Figure Out That Maybe Their Incompetent Union Thug Isn’t All That Great

You know who we don’t like? Amir Peretz. You know who Labor primary voters don’t like? Amir Peretz:

Opinion polls released on Monday showed that if the Labor primaries were held now, Ehud Barak and Ami Ayalon would be in a close race for the party chairmanship, with current Labor chief Amir Peretz trailing badly and in danger of defeat at the hands of all prospective rivals. According to a Haaretz survey, conducted by the Dialog polling company, the “new” Labor Party, about half of whose members have changed since the last membership drive, is turning its back on Peretz, while the erstwhile outsider Barak is enjoying an impressive comeback, with 25 percent of the vote.

You know what would’ve been great? If the Labor primary voters would have realized this before electing Peretz the last time around. That would have been before they collapsed the Sharon government, put Sharon under enough stress to drive him into a terminal coma, installed Peretz as Defense Minister, and ensured that the IDF was led by an incompetent union thug during a war against the best Arab army they’d ever met. If they would’ve realized this earlier, that would have been totally, totally awesome.
