Palestinian Non-Civil War Watch: Blah Blah Blah

Usually we’d try to tone down the unseemly schadenfreude, but in this case knock yourselves out. Every bullet exchanged between Hamas and Fatah soldiers is a bullet not fired at an Israeli civilian.

Palestinian security forces loyal to Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas were preparing Wednesday for the possibility of renewed clashes with Hamas if the crucial talks in Mecca on ending internal strife and forming a unity government failed to reach a breakthrough. Palestinian sources said that Abbas’s security forces were placing sand bags around their headquarters and were setting up dirt mounds on nearby access routes, Israel Radio reported. Hamas and Fatah leaders arrived in Saudi Arabia Tuesday for the crucial talks which were set to officially commence on Wednesday afternoon.

Our prediction: they’ll work something out. A generation of anti-Semitic incitement – and their President’s recent statements – have taught them where they’re supposed to aim their (US-supplied) weapons.
