Turns Out, Iran Won’t Stop Developing The Nukes That They Really, Really Want

Surprise:

In a first reaction to the sanctions to be imposed on Iran in line with United Nations Security Council resolution 1737, Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Monday ordered the government to continue the nuclear programs. “The Iranian nation definitely insists on its (nuclear) rights and the government has no right to make any concession over this great achievement,” said Khamenei, who constitutionally has the final say on all state matters.

And why is he so pissed off about attempts to stop the Iranian nuclear program?

“If some Western governments believe that they can form an alliance with the United States and Britain to satisfy the Zionists (Israel) and make this illegitimate regime feel relaxed, then they are making a political mistake,” he said.

Now why would Israel’s relative state of relaxation be an issue tied up with the Iranian nuclear program? It’s almost like it’s an open secret that Iran’s development of nuclear technology is targeted at Israel. Almost.

Anyway, that’s the news for this morning: weak sanctions on one of the most resource-rich countries on the planet have failed to get the regime to reconsider achieving a goal that they value more than anything else.
