James Baker Stays True To Form, Recommends Undermining Israel

TTLB has the recommendations of the Iraq Study Group that deal with Israel, and LGF has point-by-point mockery of any idea that any of them will work. We just want to focus very briefly on the ceasefire section:

RECOMMENDATION 17: Concerning the Palestinian issue, elements of that negotiated peace should include: A major effort to move from the current hostilities by consolidating the cease-fire reached between the Palestinians and the Israelis in November 2006.

“Consolidating the cease-fire” is an interesting phrase in this context. On December 4th, the Palestinians fired rockets into Israel. The also fired rockets into Israel on December 3rd, on December 2nd, and on December 1st. This, it seems to us, would be in sharp contrast to what the word “cease” is generally taken to mean. Maybe realists use a different version of English than the rest of us. Or something. They certainly seem to use a different version of history, so it wouldn’t be all that surprising.

This is neither here nor there, but – well – James Baker on Jews:

Quotable quote no 1: “Don’t worry, Jews remember the Holocaust, but they forget insults as soon as they smell cash.”

Quotable quote No 2: “Fuck the Jews, they didn’t vote for us anyway.”

Good thing that the anti-Israel lobby has assured everyone that Baker is just anti-Israel and not anti-Semitic. We’d hate to see what he’d be recommending if he was anti-Semitic, ya know?
