IDF Is Confused About Whether They’re Allowed To Kill Terrorists

Readers of this blog know that we try to maintain a more or less center-right perspective. It’s not that the radical right is always wrong-headed. But in their haste, they often take the pendulum and pull it too far in their own direction – this causes them to misdiagnose problems and misallocate resources toward solutions. That said, the current Israeli government seems to be not particularly good at their job:

A day after Defense Minister Amir Peretz told the security cabinet that the IDF would not extend the current Gaza cease-fire to the West Bank, OC Central Command Maj.-Gen. Yair Naveh on Monday increased the stringency of rules governing the IDF’s West Bank operations… In an interview with Israel Radio, Sneh said Monday that Israel was trying to refrain from military activity that would serve as an excuse for terrorists to carry out attacks against Israel… Sneh also said special care would be taken to prevent excessive friction with the Palestinian population in Judea and Samaria.

What exactly are they going to do to pull the rug out from under Hamas’s genocidal plans? What, are they going to stop being Jewish? Because last we checked, that was the excuse that they were using.
