We were playing around with the Google Directory and came across two TIME articles from the history of United Nations/Israeli relations. The first is from December 15, 1975, and details the UN legitimization of the PLO. It’s entitled “Israel Loses a Round”, and it’s about how the United Nations condemned Israel for going after terrorists in Lebanon:
The second article is from June 29, 1981, and is entitled “A Harsh Rebuke for Israel”. It’s about how the entire planet – including the United States – condemned Israel for destroying Iraq’s nuclear reactor:
So spare us the refrain about how “Israel is opposed by the entire world,” as if that somehow proves that there’s logic and fairness behind those condemnations. Israel has been getting criticized for decades for taking actions that turned out – in almost every case – to have been justified. People who are unable to defend why decades of UN resolutions have turned out to be wrong should not use contemporary resolutions as evidence for anything other than systemic UN bias.
