NATO has invited Israel to take part in military exercises. This could be because they really wanted to have the Muslim nations of Egypt, Jordan, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco and Mauretania (all or whom also invited) but figured they had to have a balance. Or it could be because NATO wants to shove troops down Israel’s throat:
NATO is also considering sending forces to the Gaza Strip after Israel implements the disengagement plan, if Israel and the Palestinian Authority reach an agreement on the withdrawal and ask for NATO help.
Allowing NATO troops to gain a foothold in the Gaza Strip would be nothing short of a disaster for Israel:

The E.U. wishes to appease Saudi Arabia and the oil laden Gulf States by pushing Israel back to their indefensible Armistice Lines of 1967 and from there – into extinction…
Watch for Leftists both in America and Israel begin to call for American and NATO troops… Hamas, Islamic Jihad and the others desperately need an extended cease-fire to rebuild their Terrorist infrastructure. An E.U./NATO force will provide them protection to accomplish that.
Emanuel Winston is kind of a nutcase, but his point is basically correct: NATO peacekeepers would be unwilling to seriously engage Palestinian terorists for fear of incurring heavy casualties. But their presence would prevent Israel from undertaking either preemptive or retaliatory action. Finally either the Palestinians would get around to targeting NATO or Israel be forced to act in the aftermath of a massive attack. Either way, NATO troops would be coming home in body bags – and the world would blame the Jews.
